Sandstone is also widely used in raising wall. Sandstone is found ideal for this purpose since it is fine grained, compact, quite hard, has good compressive strength and low absorption property. Sandstone has been used for over hundreds and thousands of years for this very reason. The years old walls of the forts and great monuments of India like Fathepur Sikri, and Red Fort that still stand unshaken, were also made of sandstone.

The fireproof, non-slip sandstone, is mostly used for wall cladding not only because of its strength but because of its decorative look also. The sand stone wall are mostly made of blocks or the slabs of sandstone and many a times the sand stone bricks are also used. Making the wall of sandstone lends a unique and antique look.
